The Opportunity

This position is ideal for someone with an agricultural background who enjoys direct interaction with farmers and landowners and finds purpose in practical, farm-centric solutions. You will support nutrient and manure management planning, soil conservation, mapping, recordkeeping, and regulatory processes while representing Red Barn Consulting as a trusted partner.

What You’ll Do

  • Visit farms and agricultural sites to collect soil, manure, and field data

  • Support development, updating, and maintenance of nutrient management plans tailored to each operation

  • Assist with soil conservation, erosion & sediment control, and related planning activities

  • Use GIS and mapping tools to develop accurate resource and field maps

  • Help clients prepare and maintain compliant plans with regulatory standards

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and plan files

  • Attend meetings with clients, conservation districts, and regulatory agencies

  • Serve as a field-based advocate and technical resource for Red Barn clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in agriculture, agronomy, soil science, farm management, or related field

  • Practical farm experience (e.g., crop production, livestock operations, manure handling)

  • Comfort working outdoors in varied field conditions

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Basic familiarity with GIS or mapping technologies is a plus

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to farm sites

  • Positive, hands-on, solution-focused mindset
